- The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), on behalf of Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) invites qualified interested firms to submit Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming solicitation for the implementation of technical assistance on Assessment of innovative adaptation technologies in cities of Uruguay. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on behalf of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) requires the services of an institution to deliver the technical assistance as approved by National Designated Entity from Uruguay.The objective of this Technical Assistance is to strengthen Uruguay's capacity to prioritize vulnerable urban localities and design climate change adaptation measures by generating local climate information on extreme temperatures and the behavior of wind as a modulator of the microclimate. In the current climate change scenario, Uruguay faces several threats associated with the increase in average and extreme temperatures, intensity and frequency of extreme events determined by increased rainfall and winds, and sea level rise (Barreiro et al. 2019, Barreiro et al. 2021).
